Being a Boy or Girl?
Not too long ago I was group with this guy for basically hours trying to get to forge. After many tries and talking I thought the guy was cool and all. But when we were searching for people to take us to forge.. I said my girlfriend came home.
-Note that I was playing as a Female Necromancer and I'm a guy and I happen to be very soft senisitive person. But I do actually RP (role play) a lot and I do play female and male characters. Detis Zan happens to be one-
So then he got all weird on me saying like "People like you make me sick" and "Doesn't that stunt your manhood?"
I replied and said no it doesn't in the very least because it's just a game.
Then he replied "Well it does to me bye." And I tried to reason with the guy but he said Don't talk to me etc.
Yeah I felt bad but then I realized it's a game and guys use female chracers all the time. I didn't even said I was a girl in the first place or tried to trick anyone. I think he got too attached... o.o
What are your guys thoughts on using female characters? I just thought that's pretty judgemental.

Who cares, it'd be boring if nobody played female chars. I've played a female character in every game I've played (if available). Unreal Tournament, Tribes, Halo, Guild Wars, Planetside...etc etc.
I don't have a particular reason, just always picked a female char. For some games, they sayings/taunts are funnier I guess.
I have a wife, 3 kids, house, car, 2 dogs... I feel normal.

What a jerk. Kids like him are the ones who give teenagers like myself such a bad stereotype in online gaming. My jaw pretty much dropped when I read this.
Anyways I raise my finger to anyone who is so assertive towards such a pointless subject as that kid. (ok that may have been immature but more do ya want? :P)

I love how all these guys feel like they have to prove to themselves and others. Who gives a damn what you play online, you shouldn't be hitting on a person over the internet anyway. Im a male and i play female charecters sometimes, Im perfectly comfortable as them and it definately doesnt "stunt my manhood" because its just a charecter online. Mind you these are the same people that get naked as all male warriors and dance naked in a big circle like a big sausage fest, or pay female charecters to dance for them. I dont pay much attention to them.

On a more serious note, no, not at all. I play girl characters occasionally (Although most of my characters are guys), it isn't a big deal to me. I mean so what? If people really care about that.. Not gonna say anything but you can guess what I was going to =/

My first char was a female ranger.... that stopped soon after I got one too many "advances" from other people, most of which were disturbing and sometimes explicit.

What the heck? After my main, 3/4s of my GW characters are females (guy here). I do it mostly because I'd rather look at a female (sadly the cape obscures much).

All my GW chars are females. I like RPing as a female many times too. Usually, in RP games, I take a male for a warrior-type hero and a female for a mage and archer-type.
But I just dont like the male models in GW.
The Warrior looks so bloated and overweight.
Male Eles are just ughh..who'd want a male ele whn the female looks sooo elegant and regal.
Male Necros give me the creeps. Female ones look like some obscure fashion fan..but its still better.
Rangers are fine in both the models.
Male mesmers dont look like RPing character at all. Their stupid pimp dance irritates me heh. Female ones are nice :>
Monks..I dont like playing a bald char for some reason.... :/ SO I choose the female one with a decent hairdo.

I'm guessing he started 'liking' your character and got mad because your a dude in reality. Just a guess though but very probable.

Heh, guess he didn't realise that real girls don't exist online?
I have both, I also rp both sexes on forums. I think I pointed out my sex here before, but other than that, I'm used to people getting it wrong, my username doesn't help.
In a game, I'd go (I do) for whatever looks nicer at the time, in a text based rp... it's a challenge to rp the other sex successfully, and to some extend, reasonably easy to pick up on whether the person behind the char is male or female.

Yeah with my Detis character when I RP text I've gotten pretty good at it my own girlfriend couldn't tell the difference. She's a RPer too.
XD
Added: Question! It makes me wonder how many women play MMORPGs I know there's a lot out there.. Just curious. I just know my girlfriend plays and maybe a friend or two.

He probably got pissed because he was starting to like you then he found out you were a guy.
Anyway I have one female PvP character. I use it in guild wars. Don't worry about it, it's just a game. And that guy seems like a prick, not very understanding at all.
